Galaxy S26 Ultra’s design upgrade may make it more comfortable to hold

Samsung’s first Galaxy S Ultra series smartphone, the Galaxy S20 Ultra, had rounder corners. The model that came the year after, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, followed its predecessor's footsteps. However, with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung changed the design philosophy. It had sharper corners, which made the device look futuristic and mean. The two models that came after it, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, also had the same design language.

While the boxy design looked great, the sharp corners also dug into your palm, which wasn’t something people appreciated. To fix that, Samsung went back to rounded corners with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, making it much more comfortable to use, similar to its direct rival, the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, which has even more rounded corners. Now, we have information that with its next device in the lineup, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung is doubling down on rounded corners.

On X, a popular tipster, @UniverseIce, claims that the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s “four corners” have become “rounder.” With that, the device should feel more comfortable to hold in the hand. Some may say that the South Korean tech giant is following Apple’s footsteps but Samsung could be just making an attempt to make the user experience better.

Previous leaks suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor. That combined with more rounded corners, the device could be a delight to hold. However, it is also expected to be taller and wider. So, that may negate the other improvements. Hopefully, we will get to see its renders soon, which should give us a better idea about its design.
