Samsung’s Ultra robot vacuum can climb obstacles and rugs! Watch it in action

Samsung's Jet Bot robot vacuums are some of the most impressive screenless smart devices in its portfolio. However, they have one major flaw: they can barely climb over obstacles or thick rugs. They're fantastic for hard floors but not so much when having to deal with steps, thick rug, and certain obstacles.

The latest model showcased at IFA 2025 addresses this issue, at least according to Samsung's demonstration in Berlin, which we captured on camera (watch it below). Its new Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra can clear and climb over obstacles that are up to 4.5 cm high! It sounds very promising for the entire future of the robot vacuum lineup.

Why this is a huge deal for robot vacuums

Up until now, Samsung's Bespoke Jet Bots have used IR, LiDAR sensors, and cameras to go around objects, but avoiding obstacles is not always the best course of action. Unfortunately, Jet Bots so far haven't been able to climb. At best, they could roll over rugs, but only if they were thin enough.

From our experience, this has been one of the most frustrating downsides of owning Samsung's robot vacuum. If you only rely on the Jet Bot, eventually, you'll have to take extra steps and do extra work to vacuum your rugs.

Conversely, this inability to clear obstacles or climb over thick rugs is why the more traditional Jet stick vacuum cleaners are often a better choice for most users — particularly those who want to clean more than hard floors on a single level without stairs.

As for the new Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra, the exact specifics and potential limitations of this new climbing mechanism are unknown, but Samsung demonstrated the robot's climbing abilities at IFA 2025 in a controlled environment, and it looked convincing enough.

The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra can extend a couple of wheels and a sort of rod from its underbelly to climb over obstacles. Check out our video from IFA below and watch it in action.

We'd love to know more about the inner workings of this system and, more specifically, how the new Ultra Jet Bot decides if it's time to climb or go around an obstacle. Samsung may unveil more details soon. We might review the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra after it goes on sale, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, if you're looking for a more traditional but powerful and clever stick vacuum, check out our full Bespoke AI Jet Ultra review. The Jet Ultra is the best option if you're not into roaming robots, and it's cheaper than the Jet Bot models.

As a side note, one other unique new feature and upgrade the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra brings over previous models is that it can now detect and clean liquids — even transparent ones — thanks to an upgraded AI system.

Pricing and release date details are unknown, but we'll let you know once we find out more.
