DuRoBo has unveiled Krono, a minimalist ePaper device designed to combine reading, note-taking, and audio playback in one pocket-sized package. Announced at IFA Berlin, the Krono is now available for pre-sale via Kickstarter, with a full commercial launch expected in November 2025 at a price of €279.99.
A Focused Alternative to Traditional Devices
Unlike tablets and smartphones that compete for attention with endless notifications, Krono is built for deep focus and creative thinking. Its 6.13-inch Carta 1200 HD e-ink display (300 PPI) provides a paper-like reading experience, making it ideal for books, long-form articles, and distraction-free writing. DuRoBo pitches the device as a “focus hub” for readers, writers, and thinkers looking for calm and clarity in their digital tools.
Features That Encourage Creativity

The Krono’s design revolves around simplicity and utility. A rotating side wheel, dubbed the Smart Dial, serves as the main interface, doubling as a quick-access button for real-time voice capture. Pressing and holding the dial activates Spark mode, where voice memos are instantly transcribed with AI-generated summaries. This approach is meant to reduce friction in capturing inspiration on the go.
On the inside, Krono runs an open version of Android, giving users the flexibility to install third-party apps, including eBook platforms and content services. Paired with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, the device can store over 5,000 eBooks, extensive voice notes, and podcasts. An adjustable front light and long-lasting battery round out the essentials for all-day or even multi-day use.
Designed With Purpose
DuRoBo emphasizes that Krono is more than an eReader, it’s a “sanctuary hub” for ideas. Lightweight and discreet, it’s meant to slip easily into a bag or pocket without demanding constant attention. For those who prefer intentional, mindful use of technology, the device represents an alternative to mainstream smart devices.
Availability
Krono is available for pre-sale on Kickstarter with shipments scheduled to begin in November 2025. More details can be found on the official Kickstarter page.
