The Galaxy S26 Ultra Keeps S Pen Slot, But This Might Be the Last Time

The Galaxy S26 Ultra S Pen isn’t going anywhere, at least not yet. Recent leaks confirm Samsung’s next flagship will keep its built-in stylus slot, putting to rest fears that the company might ditch the feature entirely. But this good news comes with a catch. After Samsung stripped Bluetooth functionality from the S25 Ultra’s S Pen earlier this year, many wondered if the stylus was living on borrowed time.

Ice Universe Puts Rumors to Rest

Reliable tipster Ice Universe shared an image showing the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a clear S Pen slot. The leak comes after months of speculation about whether Samsung would finally kill off the stylus to make room for other features. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will reportedly feature rounded corners and a thinner design, but Samsung isn’t removing the S Pen slot to achieve these changes.

Samsung’s S Pen Problem Gets Worse

Here’s the thing though. Samsung has been slowly killing the S Pen experience for months now. The Galaxy S25 Ultra launched without Bluetooth support in its S Pen, eliminating popular features like Air Actions and remote camera control. Samsung claimed only 1% of users actually used these features, but the move felt like a cost-cutting measure on a $1,300 phone.

Then came the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which ditched S Pen support entirely. Fans even started a petition to bring back Bluetooth S Pen features. The pattern is clear. Samsung keeps finding excuses to remove S Pen functionality.

Multiple leakers suggest the Galaxy S26 Ultra could be the last Samsung flagship with a built-in S Pen slot. Samsung is reportedly working on new S Pen technology that doesn’t require a digitizer, which would free up space for features like built-in Qi2 magnetic charging. Samsung’s S Pen is sensitive to magnets, which creates problems when trying to add Qi2 wireless charging.

Samsung executives have said the S Pen is here to stay, but their actions tell a different story. If you love the S Pen feature, this might be your last chance to get a flagship Samsung phone with a built-in stylus slot.
