Samsung have announced a brand new AMOLED display for mobile phones that's less than 1mm thick. Current displays are between 2-3mm thick, meaning Samsung's latest display will lead to mobile phones even thinner than the current class leaders (led, unsurprisingly, by Samsung, with its Samsung X828 - just 6.9mm thin).
Better still, Samsung's new display technology can actually support two AMOLED display panels sandwiched back-to-back, providing two different images, all in a package that's just 1.61mm thick. Expect some innovative uses of this display technology in next year's mobile phones.
